What is a LifeGroup?
A LifeGroup is a gathering of people (typically 5-12 people) who meet together regularly for fellowship and discipleship. Some of our groups are typical Bible studies or book study groups. Others are focused on outreach and missions.
Our interest-based groups create environments for people to do life together within the context of shared activities—athletics, music, arts & crafts, etc. Our LifeGroups exist to help people connect to God and connect to others.
Why does Lakeview LifeGroups meet in semesters?
In order to work within the context of everyday Fort Worth life, we found that implementing a semester system is helpful for a number of reasons. One, semester-based LifeGroups allow easy entry and exit points; you don’t have to commit to a group for the rest of your life! Two, Lakeview members are able to move more easily from one group to another as their spiritual needs and interests change. Three, it encourages more involvement by allowing people to experiment with leading a group for a short period of time.
Our semesters are scheduled as follows:
- Spring: January–April
- Summer: May-August
- Fall: September–December
How can I get more information about LifeGroups?
Each semester, we publish a LifeGroup Directory that lists all of the LifeGroups and ministry opportunities for that semester. You can pick up a copy at the Information Center in the church foyer.
How do I join a LifeGroup?
There are 3 ways to join a group:
- Complete the perforated information slip in the church bulletin and drop it into the offering plate at the end of our Sunday worship services.
- Use the group contact information in the LifeGroup Directory to connect with the LifeGroup leader directly, or
- Contact the church office at 817/236-7274 or email scott@lakeviewfellowship.com
How can I become a LifeGroup leader?
Jesus commanded his followers to "go and make disciples." This is a mandate for all believers, and we believe that every Lakeview Member is a potential LifeGroup leader. We encourage Lakeview Members to find ways to use their gifts, passions, and interests as vehicles to build disciple-making relationships. Please contact Brent Dodson if you are interested in becoming a LifeGroup leader.
